15th PSAD SPRING MEETING Postponed

Due to the eruption of an volcano in island the airspace in the UK is closed. It is not determined when safe air travel will be possible again. Given the fact that from a quick survey only 12 people reported that they could definitively come we will not be able to have our PSAD meeting in the expected format. Also the majority of the presenters do not have possibility to come timely to present.

We decided therefore that it make no sense to have our meeting at this weekend. The good news is that it is likely we will be able to carry forward most of the budget for this meeting for a postponed meeting at the same location. We know that this is a disappointing information. But we think, given the circumstance, that it is better to postpone the meeting instead of having a meeting in which most of the presenters and participants are not able to come. For those who are already underway or already arrived in Cambridge, Novo Nordisk has kindly agreed to accommodate necessary hotel room costs. Julie Smith, as the only representative of the EC, who will make it to Cambridge will offer for all who attended an informal workshop on Friday at 10.00 about perspectives of psychosocial research in Diabetology.

It's a pity, but, given the circumstances, we hope you all agree to this decision.

The congress will cover recent advances in TPE, and will create a novel possibility for experts in human sciences such as psychology, sociology, pedagogy, anthropology, bioethics, and for health professionals specialized in different chronic diseases to exchange their experiences and confront different paradigms of medicine. Again, the concurrence with the DAWN Summit will add a unique opportunity for sharing worldwide experience in therapeutic education and psycho-social care.

Executive Committee elected

At the PSAD business meeting in Brussels, Chas Skinner (UK) has stepped down as vice-chair of PSAD. The meeting voted to instate Frans Pouwer (The Netherlands) in this position. This left a vacancy on the Executive Committee and Christel Hendrieckx (Belgium) was voted unanimously to join the committee.
